When and where did you first try sailing?
Mum and Dad when I was very young on Blessington Lake.
Who introduced you to sailing?
My parents. What was the first boat you raced? Optimist.
What was the first race you won?
My first big race win was at the ISAF Youth Worlds in Holland in 2007.
When did you first represent Ireland?
2005.
How did you progress from a Club sailor to an Olympic class sailor?
Training and Racing.
What’s your boat name?
I have a few boats at the moment so lots of names.
Who has been the biggest influence in your career to date?
My family and my coach Rory.
What was your worst sailing moment?
I have many!
What was your best sailing moment?
Winning the Europeans last year in Dublin.
What is your favourite boat to sail?
My foiling Moth.
What do you eat for breakfast on a race day?
Porridge with honey and almonds.
Do you have any lucky charms, superstitions or rituals?
Not really, keep with the routine if it’s working.
What three things are always in your suitcase?
My ropes bag, sun cream and runners.
What is the best sailing venue in Ireland?
I would say Dun Laoghaire…but only when the conditions are good!
What is the best sailing venue in the world?
I loved Perth as a place to sail. Weymouth was good too.
What was your most expensive sailing accident?
I haven’t had anything major yet. Touch wood.
What’s the top speed you’ve reached sailing?
28.7 knots in my Moth.
If you weren’t a full-time sailor what would you be?
I’m not sure, possibly a scientist as I would have finished my science degree.
Do you have any heroes?
Lots of people inspire me, Mark Pollock and Joanne O’Riordan are two people I have met in the last year who are true heroes.
Do you play any other sports?
I love cycling and running. I also attempt to surf and am planning to learn to kitesurf at some stage when I have time!
What do you do for fun?
Moth sailing when I am home and getting to catch up with friends.
What would you love to do but never have the time or money for it?
I would love to properly travel. I get to go to all these amazing places around the world but I never get to actually see them as I have a set racing or training plan for everyday.
What word or phrase best depicts your personality?
Happy. What’s your best attribute? Not giving up.
What’s your worst habit?
Saying ‘LIKE” too often.
What’s your dream holiday?
Something active maybe mountain biking in the Alps during summer!
What’s your favourite food?
I love fresh fruit. Who’s your favourite band? Probably U2.
What’s your favourite TV show or movie?
Blades of Glory and Game of Thrones.
If you had a theme song – what would it be?
Rocky – Eye of the Tiger? Haha!
If they made a movie of your life – who would play you?
I have no idea!
